Therapy often focuses on understanding patterns, exploring feelings, and gaining insight into past experiences. Healing goes deeper: it combines guided experiential release, nervous system and energy regulation, and integrative self-awareness to create lasting change. In therapy, you may come to understand your story; in healing, you also release and transform your relationship to it.

Here are a list of difference between healing and therapy. Contact Melissa for help deciding which is best for you.
Healing uses Integrative, experiential, and energy-based work without a focus on talking — Therapy uses talk-focused sessions with some integrative methods
Healing is non-clinical, intuitive, and flexible — Therapy follows state regulations and clinical documentation
Healing is best for people who have done therapy and want deeper release, embodiment, and transformation — Therapy is best for people seeking clinical support and symptom relief
Healing does not diagnose or treat mental illness — Therapy can diagnose and treat mental health conditions
Healing clients can live anywhere since there are no state restrictions — Therapy clients must live in state where Melissa is licensed (Texas, Colorado, and Utah)
Healing clients are self-pay only (insurance doesn’t cover this type of work) — Therapy clients are eligible for insurance reimbursement (when applicable, not all insurance is accepted)

Generally, yes, though there may be exceptions. This format assumes that you are ready to go further than where ordinary therapists can take you. If you have not done previous psychotherapy, you may want to assess whether you are ready to “dive deep”, or if you would prefer a more surface level, talking approach. This work is generally targeted to people who have already done substantial inner work, whether through therapy, coaching, or spiritual practice, and feel ready to move into a deeper level of embodied healing.
